What
is SMS Blast?
We
all know that mobile messaging or SMS
(short message service) is a quick, cost
effective and personal way of getting our
messages across. However, its function doesn't
end there.
SMS
can also be used in delivering marketing
campaigns or information to potential or
existing customers, suppliers and employees
wherever they may be, functioning as a very
effective and direct business communication
channel.
Simply
put, SMS blast means bulk SMS. As one of
the features of Bigfoot’s SMS Manager
PRO, SMS blast allows users to send text
messages or broadcast a single text message
up to 30,000 recipients in just one sending.
No need to retype the message.
How
do you do this? Simply define your recipients
by creating a group or importing a list.
Then send your regular text message to the
defined recipients. It’s really very
easy, making SMS delivery and campaign management
an absolute breeze.
To
try the SMS Blast feature, download the
Bigfoot SMS Manager here.

One Out of Two Emails
Received Will Be spam
|
|
Spam continues to grow exponentially and
is expected to account for 50% of the volume
of emails received by an individual or business
by September 2003 or earlier. Brightmail,
the world’s leading anti-spam software
company, made this forecast based on its
record of spam attacks.
Brightmail
also reported that offers for products continue
to be the dominant type of spam, followed
by porn. In June 2003, the offensive spam
got over 20 percent share of the total spam
in the UK and 19 percent in the US.
Because
of its sheer volume and sometimes disgusting
nature, spam has become such a hot issue.
We are now seeing lawmakers, consumer advocates
and Internet industry officials all coming
together for a series of discussions on
how to address the problem. The latest of
these forums are geared towards harmonizing
international efforts to cut back on spam.
Still,
even with these encouraging developments
particularly on the legal front, the general
sentiment is that new laws alone won’t
stop spam. It will be a big help but a global
technical solution is still necessary.
In
the meantime, to avoid or at least minimize
the risks of being spammed, users are strongly
advised to always exercise caution when
giving out their email addresses. And if
spam becomes unbearable, consider investing
in a good Anti-spam solution. Bigfoot’s
Anti-spam Solution can effectively
filter out even the most sophisticated spam
and is very convenient since there is no
action required of the end user. The server
takes care of everything.

Bigfoot
Launches DNS Management Service
|
| Bigfoot
Domain recently announced the launch
of its new DNS Management service. The service,
which sports a web-based interface, will
allow Bigfoot Domain subscribers to edit
their domain name records themselves, providing
users with more control over their domain
accounts.
DNS
is generally considered as an acronym for
Domain Name System, but can also be used
to denote Domain Name Server or Domain Name
Services. The main function for DNS is to
translate human-readable domain names into
machine-readable Internet Protocol (IP)
addresses. Basically, it is how computers
find themselves in the Internet. It does
this by creating an easy to remember name
for your computer and associating it with
your computer’s IP address. DNS had
its first successful test on June 23, 1983
at the University of Southern California
School of Engineering’s Information
Sciences Institute. Since then it has become
the system for “.com”, “.edu”,
“.gov” and other top-level domains
used by email and web users.
Bigfoot
users with domain subscriptions can now
take advantage of the new and free DNS Management
service to manipulate their domain’s
Name Server records, IP records, Alias records,
MX records, and SOA records. Bigfoot users
get to use the service completely free of
charge for now, as opposed to other service
providers that charge for the use of this
particular service.

Domain today.

Plans To be Launched Next Month
|
| Bigfoot
Communications will be upgrading its email
forwarding subscription plans this August
without increasing its prices. The new enhanced
plans will have higher limits and more features.
Premium and Ultra’s daily limits will
now be 500 and 1,000 emails respectively.
Aside from the increased limits, both plans
will be able to support file size attachments
of up to 10MB. Filtering and distribution
capabilities will also be beefed up. A Premium
or Ultra subscriber will now be able to
set up 50 filters or distribute his emails
to a maximum of 20 addresses.
In addition to the above, a Premium or Ultra
subscriber will receive a free WebMail account
together with his subscription. The free
WebMail account comes with a storage capacity
of 10MB and is capable of POP3 and IMAP.
Basic email forwarding, on the other hand,
will also be upgraded. Its new limit of
50 emails per day will be 100% more than
its previous level of 25 emails per day.
File size attachment will likewise be increased
from 1MB to 3MB.
The move to upgrade the email forwarding
plans is in line with Bigfoot’s commitment
to provide its customers with services that
offer the best value for money. As
the pioneer in the email forwarding industry,
Bigfoot further re-affirms its leadership
thru constant reviews of its offerings to
better meet the needs of its customers.
